Our brand is always trying to push the future of green technology, and recent tests are hinting at very bright a sunny future. Here at Lithia Honda in Medford we are very excited by the partnership our brand has struck with Toshiba, and the test program that has resulted from this in Japan's Miyakojima City.
Honda and Toshiba and have combined their brain power to test out a new approach to electric vehicle charging. The program has already started in the Japanese city, and takes our brands new micro-electric-vehicle, the MC-B, and three solar-powered charging stations created by Toshiba.
The "Micro Computer Beta" car is a tiny model designed around a small electric motor with only eight horsepower. This model is only capable of traveling up to 43 miles per hour, but emits zero CO2 and is compliant with Europe's strict future emissions regulations.
The charging stations developed by Toshiba take in photovoltaic energy from the sun and stores them in advance for use in charging the vehicles that eventually park in the station. Currently in Miyakojima City the three stations are soaking in the sunlight for the Honda test models that are being driven around.
The overall vision motivating Honda in this test is the possibility of a world where there is no CO2 emitted by vehicles, and thanks to our brand and vehicles like the mini MC-B this seems plausible down the road.
Currently we have some great low emission rides in the inventory of new Honda models, so stop by our Medford, Oregon showroom today and check out a vehicle like the 2014 Accord Plug-In Hybrid.
