Explaining A Timing Belt

"What is a timing belt?" you may ask yourself. It is a question that rightfully pops up in the minds of the less mechanically-inclined among us. After all, modern vehicles have some many various parts to them that it can be difficult to keep up at times.

A timing belt essentially helps to regulate the flow of air and gas to the engine. The engine needs a certain amount of both in just the right proportions to operate properly. The timing belt makes sure that those proportions remain intact, and it is thus a very valuable piece of equipment.

Regular maintenance of the timing belt is critical to getting the most performance out of it. If you sense that there may be something wrong with your timing belt at any point in time you should get it into a shop right away. Waiting around on this one is not a good idea.
